I have a few questions for starting a landscaping business:
1. How many employees do you start out with including yourself?
2. How many employees should I hire after I have settled in?
3. How many mowers should I have?
4. How much money should I pay my employees?
5. How many lawns (on average) do landscaping businesses cut a day?
6. How much gas do those landscaping businesses use a day?
7. How much maintenance do landscaping businesses spend on their mowers?
8. How much money do businesses make over the summer?
9. What do landscaping businesses do in the winter and how much do they make in the winter?
All questions asked are for a project of mine. Help will be appreciated.
1. Just one
2. No more than 2…otherwise you’ll spend most of your time just managing them
3. One large, one trimmer to start
4. Depends on how much you can charge and how fast they work…and still make a profit
5. Depends on the distance between jobs, figure no more than 4 per day
6. For the mowers…again, too many variables…I’d guess to plan on 1 gal/lawn
7. Better mowers usually have less maintenance, but cost more up front…and if your mower’s in the shop, you’re out-of-biz…unless you have more than one mower!
8. If this is a summer-only business of mowing lawns, multiply your daily average profit by the number of days you expect to have business…say 90.
9. Varies
