Why does rain clear up my cloudy or muddy pond after it rains?

I have a small plastic landscape pond that is always murky because of the dirt or mud in it. However, for a day or so after any rain it clears up. Why is that?

Could be acidic properties in the rain water. I had the same situation once. It’s b/c the rain has some acidic property that is clearing up an algae in the water- at least that’s what I was told.

There is mud, algea, or decomposed leaf matter in the bottom of your pond that is getting stirred up by the rain.
