I must assume you're near another water habitat?.... is that where they are coming from?.........the most logical solution would be to remove what they are there for.... food....with the fish gone, you can drop the water level drastically....when that happens, the water heats up..... if it heats up, algae grows... and you drop in some really strong algaecide....now the water is not so nice to live in....... and with luck, they'll move on..... and forget where you live.... or, you can then get someone out there to remove them from the pond before the water goes green!.....

I love wildlife around and in my pond, too, but like you, not that one!!.... you could put your fish in a tank for the time being, maybe?...
References :
Sounds like you have a source of good snake habitat close by. Yes a box with sides of smooth sheet metal will stop snakes. They cannot climb it. 24 inches would be the min although 30 inches would be better. You can use any type of metal roofing. It all looks surprisingly good in a vertical position as you would be using it. You can buy it in many colors.
Might consider a electric wire around a edge about one inch off the surface..
Also a teenager with a powerful pellet gun would love the job.. I know from experience you can kill all of them if you are persistent.
References :
Snake country

Ask your local animal control people. It may be as simple as trimming back the plants around the pond.
